Introduction to Customization

Resources and procedures for customizing your Knowledge Base

    Updated at April 27th, 2025

This guide provides comprehensive instructions for customizing your Knowledge Base, covering three main areas:

    1. Visual Editor: Enables you to easily control fonts, colors, images, and layout directly, without any coding.
    2. Customization Requests: Technical tasks handled by our team to help you customize aspects of your Knowledge Base beyond the Visual Editor, without the need to touch any code yourself. These requests are categorized into three tiers: Minor, Medium, and Overhaul.
    3. Advanced Guides: Development documentation and detailed code references for customers interested in independently extending their Knowledge Base.

    Visual Editor

The Visual Editor allows you to customize the look and feel of your Knowledge Base - no coding required. It's designed to give you control over key design elements through an intuitive interface.

With the Visual Editor, you can:

    • Change fonts, colors, and background to match your brand
    • Update logos and images used throughout your Knowledge Base
    • Adjust the layout and appearance of your homepage, including featured sections
    • Show or hide specific areas like Followed Articles, Popular Topics, or Useful Links
    • Customize text labels and section headers to match your tone
    • Organize and edit link lists to direct users to relevant content

The editor automatically detects customizable components across different page types - like your homepage, article pages, contact page, and more - allowing you to tailor the experience for each one.

    Customization Requests

Customization Requests allow you to request changes to the appearance and behavior of your Knowledge Base that go beyond what’s available in the Visual Editor. These requests are handled entirely by our team, so you don’t need to write or modify any code yourself.

This option is perfect when you want to adjust things that aren’t configurable through standard settings - whether it’s a small design tweak or a more extensive layout update.

We offer three levels of customization to suit different needs:

    • Minor – Small, targeted adjustments such as hiding a specific section, changing a font size, or updating the color of certain elements
    • Medium – Moderate updates like rearranging homepage sections, adjusting layouts, or tweaking how categories or articles are displayed
    • Overhaul – Broad changes such as applying a new design style, redesigning key pages, or introducing new components

Each request is reviewed and implemented by our customization team, ensuring high-quality results without requiring any technical effort on your part.
